Fan page

A Facebook page is where you present your business. It’s often referred to as a business page (sometimes shortened to FP or BP).

In simple terms, it’s your business profile on Facebook.

Facebook offers three main places to share content: personal profiles, groups, and business pages.

Simply put, it’s the storefront of your business:

  • your content can reach people who don’t follow you yet and turn them into followers
  • you run Facebook ads through your page
  • you can also join groups as a page, helping you build visibility and position yourself as an expert

When it comes to reach, pages typically have lower reach than profiles and groups, although there are exceptions. If you look at your feed, you’ll mostly see posts from profiles, groups, and ads, with only occasional posts from pages. MMy fan page is Lucie Dědková – podnikatelská mentorka, feel free to check it out. However, in my case, the main part of my business happens inside the Facebook group Level Up Your Business (Promo, Strategy & Know-How Sharing).

What to include on your fan page

  • Cover photo – it should reflect your expertise, match your brand colors, and include a call to action. (It’s not clickable, but when users open the image, you can add a link in the description.)
In my case, I invite people to join the Level Up Your Business (Promo, Strategy & Know-How Sharing).

  • Profile photo – this represents your business. In my case, my brand is built around me, so I use the same photo as on my personal profile. This helps me stay recognizable and consistent – people see the same name and photo across my profile, groups, and fan page.

  • Page name – my business is based on my personal brand, so I use my own name.

  • Description – briefly explain what people can expect to find on your page.

  • Contact details – make sure to include all relevant contacts so people can easily find and reach you (website, social media, Facebook group, email, etc.).

  • Photos – the last 9 images are displayed, so it’s helpful if they support your expertise and brand.

  • Content – this is the foundation. High-quality, valuable, or entertaining content ensures that people will follow you and eventually buy your products. The first step is to capture attention. You have about 2 seconds to do it. If your content doesn’t grab attention immediately, people will scroll past without reading. If you want to learn how to create engaging content, check out the webinar.

Note: Even though many people pronounce it “fun page,” the term actually comes from “fan” (as in followers), not “fun.” The correct pronunciation is fan page.
