AI assistants – GPTs, Gems etc.

An AI assistant is software that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help people with various tasks – answering questions, executing commands, and simplifying everyday work. AI assistants don’t “think” independently. They follow instructions and perform tasks based on given prompts.

In a broader sense, tools like ChatGPT can be considered AI assistants as a whole. However, the term is now more commonly used to describe a specifically configured model within platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or other language models. These models are typically designed to handle one primary task.

What tasks are suitable for AI assistants

• Creating product descriptions for e-commerce in a specific tone of voice, based on a clear structure and SEO analysis.

In ChatGPT, these models are called GPTs. You can find them in the left-hand menu under “Explore GPTs”.

How to use GPT models

There are two ways to use GPT models – you can either create your own (see below) or use an assistant created by someone else.

You can access the GPT Store via the “Explore GPTs” button.

In the GPT Store, you can browse, select, and test different models and assistants. Keep in mind that many GPTs are designed for marketing purposes – for example, website-building assistants may try to redirect you to another tool that acts as an AI builder. If you don’t know or trust a website, don’t click on it.

How to create your own GPT assistant

It’s surprisingly simple. If you have repetitive tasks, want a chatbot that speaks in your voice, or need something specific that isn’t available in the GPT Store, creating your own assistant is the way to go. You can easily build multiple assistants – each tailored to a specific task, client, or use case.

Step-by-step: how to create a new GPT assistant:

• Click on Explore GPTs in the left-hand menu
• Then click Create in the top right corner

• If you’re just getting started, switch to Create. There, you can describe what you want your assistant to do, and it will configure itself for you. If you’re more advanced, you can jump straight into manual configuration.

• Then review the instructions, upload a knowledge file (for example, 20 of your posts if you want it to write in your voice), and refine what the assistant should be able to do. You can also connect it with other tools and apps to expand its capabilities.
